Mr. Salman Khurshid,
Minister of External Affairs,
South Block,
New Delhi.
Dear Salman,
I draw your attention to a forgotten group of the refugees in Jammu & Kashmir, namely, those Hindus who were driven out from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and are nearly 9,50,000 in 46 camps in the State of Jammu & Kashmir as refugees, as also 2,50,000 in other parts of India. However, I find that there is no mention of any action to meet any of the demands of these PoK refugees including being granted the formal status of refugee under the international law. There is also a need to set up a PoK Refugee Development Board in J&K and perhaps quota of reservations in the J&K Legislative Assembly. I wonder whether this matter has ever been brought to your attention, and you have thought about it.
I would appreciate a reply from you in this matter since it involves the question of human rights which is justiciable under the law. When we can continuously raise our voice for Tamil refugees in Sri Lanka, I do not see why we shy away when it comes to Hindu refugees in Kashmir.
Warm Regards,
(Subramanian Swamy)
Yours sincerely,
