SC Judge Dave favours Gita education in schools
Lauding the ancient system of imparting education, Supreme Court justice A R Dave said on Saturday that given a choice, he would like to introduce the Gita and the Mahabharata for study from class 1 in schools.
The SC judge stressed going back to traditions to solve modern problems. "Our old tradition such as 'Guru-Shishya parampara' is lost. If it had been there, we would not have all these problems (violence, conflicts and terrorism) in our country. Now we see terrorism in other countries." On the requirement of being good to form a just society, he said, "If I am good, if every person of my country is good, my administrator is bound to be good. If everybody in a democratic country is good, then they would naturally elect somebody who is very good. And that person will never think of damaging anybody else."Talking on 'Contemporary Issues and Challenges of Human Rights in the Era of Globalization' during the inaugural ceremony of a workshop, Justice Dave said, "Somebody who is very secular... so-called secular will not agree... Had I been the dictator of India, I would have introduced the Gita and the Mahabharata in class 1. That is the way you learn how to live life." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqmCRhI71NM

Ahmedabad: Supreme Court judge Justice AR Dave on Saturday said that Indians should revert to their ancient traditions, and texts such as Mahabharata and Bhagwad Gita should be introduced to children at an early age. "Our old tradition such as 'Guru Shishya parampara' is lost, if it had been there, we...Thanks to Supreme Court Judge, Sri A R Dave who opined that Bhagvad Gita should be taught to children in Schools, it raised ire of usual suspects . Sri Dave as well as BJP and other sensible persons should stand firm . Their stand is correct and is in consonance with India's culture and civilization to which the current education system is alien.
One secular character says what Judge said is derogatory ?
So what the Judge said regarding Gita is absolutely correct, it should be taught to children in schools. The principles of Gita go far beyond any confines including religion and are applicable in various purely secular endeavors like Business management, behavioral psychology or for leading a successful life for a individual or a society.
Really ? He probably never heard about 'Hindu children should be killed' by a prominent Moslem leader in Mulayam's UP. And Samajvadi rose to the occasion when that fellow made that statement and gave him VVIP treatment providing him a private jet plane. Not to be outdone the media crooks did like wise , they juxtaposed Gujarat riots or pictures of Modi when ever they were reporting such news of outrageous statements of India's secular minority leaders. They are not only derogatory to India's children but also dangerous to permit such characters go around like ViPs rather than throw them in jail.
And then there is another suspect, he calls Judge a dictator ! Why ? This mouth piece of SoniaG calling learned judge dictator, belongs to a party that should know first hand what dictatorship is. Mrs. Gandhi, not the current one but Mrs. I Gandhi provided that opportunity to nation during her tryst with tyranny during contrived 'emergency' during which she threw Jaya Prakash Narain in jail and many other saintly people as well who never had a selfish bone in their body. They suffered and made India free, restoring democracy again. And Congress party continued in its usual course reaching new heights in corruption while running the party and government like a private preserve of yet another dictator, another Gandhi, who did not need any emergency since she had very obedient coterie dancing to her tunes.
So better to disregard contemptible little pip squeaks for such utterances and proceed in new direction country took since May 2014. For too long every thing we revere and every thing we regarded as noble was censored, deleted, thrown out of class rooms and text books, even though all over the rest of civilized world decent people are admiring them , adoring them and learning them. When Yoga was sought to be introduced in schools of India , when Vedic Mathematics which helps to arrive at a solution to a math problem faster than a computer, they were all opposed. The rascals do not want children to learn that there were things in the past worthy for learning because they believe India before the arrival of Moslem invaders or British carpet baggers was just a junglee, nothing much to write about in history , even less to be taught.
However it is good to see they lost, lost badly notwithstanding all the foul plays indulged to defeat patriotic and nationalist forces.
After all truth always triumphs.
So it is time now to clean the stables, sprinkle some fragrant water and continue our journey along the path of our civilization , whose progress was rudely interrupted for too long including the period since 1947 in India. What Sri AR Dave said is a judgement that is befitting Supreme Court of India which should uphold Constitution of India , the framers of which strove hard to reflect Indian ethos in that document. In the Constitution of India, that is original one given to the nation in Jan 26,1950, not the one after infamous 42 amendment, there were pictures of Sri Rama, and many other auspicious things but not the dirty words like Secularism and Socialism.
So what the Judge said regarding Gita is absolutely correct, it should be taught to children in schools. The principles of Gita go far beyond any confines including religion and are applicable in various purely secular endeavors like Business management, behavioral psychology or for leading a successful life for a individual or a society.
People of India knew of Gita, Mahabharat and Ramayana when India opened doors extended hospitality to fleeing Jews in Ist century AD when Romans burnt temple Solomon built in Jerusalem, India received with open arms fleeing Zorastrians from Persia, Iran today, when Islamic invaders overran that area, India provided also shelter to Shias fleeing Khalif in Baghdad in early 8th century CE. Remember while Indians knew about Rama and Krishna then , knew about what they said and did, yet the people then knew nothing about secularism.
And when secularism came to rule the roost, amazingly people of India themselves became refugees in their own land. Sooner thus such giant contributions of secularism are discarded and children of India are allowed to learn once again what heroes of India like Rama and Krishna said and did, it will be that much better for progress, prosperity, strength and success of India as a nation , once again. Only when lessons of Gita, the summary of philosophy of India contained there is imbibed then only India once again will be fit to become Jagadguru, teacher of the world.
