Vijñānabhikṣu (1550-1600) provided commentaries on Vedānta, Sāṃkhya, and Yoga. The commentaries claimed the three schools to be unity and included exposition of Bhedābheda Vedānta -- difference and nondifference of Brahman and Atman.
This 16th century view is but a small blip in the millennial radar of Hindu philosophy, the world view of Bharatam Janam which can be summarized in one word: dharma (aka dhamma in Pali)
To look upon this Bhedābheda as an alternative to Advaita is to build a cock-and-bull story around Vijñānabhikṣu.
