SHH-ARADHA

- THE VOLDEMORT OF SCAMS THAT MUST NOT BE NAMED
Ahead of the 2014 election, I had come to Bengal and I was attacking and there were attacks on me as well…. Check the newspapers during February, March and April... for reports on scams — coal scamspectrum scamwater scam, land scamsky scam... only onscams and scams
Narendra Modi, May 10, 2015, Burnpur
The shoulder, one of the largest and most complex joints in the human body, has replaced Saradha as the talking point in political Bengal.
If chief minister Mamata Banerjee sprang the "shoulder-to-shoulder ( kaandh se kaandh)" phrase on Saturday, it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's turn to reciprocate on Sunday.
Referring to the unanimous parliamentary endorsement of the Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh, Modi said in Burnpur in the presence of the chief minister: "Mamata Banerjee's Bengal government, along with the Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram governments, worked shoulder to shoulder with the government in Delhi as Team India and made it happen."
If imitation is the best form of compliment, Mamata has reason to be happy.
What else Modi and Mamata said on Sunday in Burnpur and what we heard:
MODI SAID
"Check the newspapers during February, March and April (2014). That time, they would carry reports on scams - Rs 1.77 lakh crore coal scam, spectrum scam, water scam, land scam, sky scam. Reports only on scams and scams."
What we heard
I am not mentioning the Saradha scam unlike on April 10, 2014, when I said in Siliguri: "We all know about the cheating by the chit fund that happened here, the Saradha scam. They even robbed poor people, who saved Rs 10 a day." I remember Rahul Baba (not ours in Bengal but the one I used to call Shehzada) had said more or less the same thing on April 19, 2014, in Behrampore and you had retorted that " chorer mayer bodo gala", which, I am told by our Rahul, means the thief's mother shouts the loudest.
I have lent you my shoulder. Now, it is your turn.
MODI SAID
"States like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, Punjab have economically developed while the eastern region is lagging behind.... But we will make the east stronger. India cannot be strong unless Bengal and Calcutta also become strong."
What we heard
As on Saradha, so on Gujarat. Mamatadi, I know that if there is one thing other than the mention of the Saradha scam that gets your goat, it is the comparison between Gujarat and Bengal. In any case, I did not want to mention the obvious: Gujarat is one of the most industrialised states and I was CM there for 12 years. But I will help Bengal grow, be by my side.
MODI SAID
Dal se bara desh hain (The country is bigger than the party)."
What we heard
Rise above party politics and help us pass the land bill.
MAMATA SAID
"When we work together, the country moves forward. When we divide, the country breaks up. We don't want division among people."
What we heard
Please ask the loony brigade in your Sangh parivar to shut up. My minority friends, please be reassured that I will not allow such elements to harm you just because I shared positive vibes with a leader I had once called " dangar mukh (the face of riots)".
MAMATA SAID
"Roshni chand se hoti hain, sitaron se nahin, kaam pyar mohabbat se hota hain, badnaami se nahin."
What we heard
If there is goodwill and support we can work together. Tell your party colleagues to stop maligning me and saying "Saradha" at the drop of a hat and " Bhaag, Mamata, Bhaag", etc. ( Evidently, the Prime Minister also heard what we heard. There was no mention of Saradha when Modi, who spoke after Mamata, delivered his address.)
MAMATA SAID
"The revival of IISCO was part of the Bengal package that we (Trinamul) sought from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government."
What we heard
Modiji, do not claim all the credit for reviving this industry. And don't forget I had shared power with Atalji, the Prime Minister who reminded you of " raj dharma" after the riots in the state you were ruling.
