By Thursday this week, a personal letter appealing for votes for the BJP and addressed to the head of the family will be hand-delivered by the panna pramukhs (page in-charge) covering the 1.30 crore voters in the city.
Over the last month, the BJP has been putting in at the grassroots level an army of booth and page-in-charges, who have been instructed by party president Amit Shah to knock on every door. The BJP has also been collecting information and interacting with voters to create a database for this exercise, said BJP sources.
The letter, which carries details of every eligible voter in the household and initiatives by the government in the past nine months, also has Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi’s photographs. The text of the letter, written as if Ms. Bedi is appealing to voters, states that the safety of women, a corruption-free system, 24-hour power supply, clean drinking water, good roads and proper facilities in government schools will be initiated under a BJP government.
