Sunanda murder case: Pushkar sought meeting with Sonia Gandhi, claims Subramanian Swamy

New Delhi: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who had earlier claimed that a day before her death Sunanda Pushkar went to visit someone in "Lutyen's area," has now given a new angle to the murder mystery. Swamy on Saturday claimed that a few days before her death, Pushkar had a meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi's political advisor Ahmed Patel and had asked for an appointment with the Congress president.
"Police has confirmed that Sunanda went out on January 16 to meet somebody. The license number plate of the car is visible in the closed circuit television camera. I also know that on January 6, Sunanda had a word with Ahmad Patel, which means eleven days before she was murdered. She had definitely asked for an appointment to meet Sonia Gandhi," Swamy was quoted as saying in an ANI report. "One more thing that I had told Rajnath Singh was that when Shashi Tharoor was a minister, he, on the account of eyewitnesses and what Sunanda had told Nalini Singh, had spent three nights in Dubai with Mehr Tarar. This raises the question of national security because it is alleged that she belongs to the ISI, although her role is not yet known and he was a minister," Swamy was further quoted as saying.
The BJP leader had earlier given an advice to police and said that they should move slowly and carefully in Sunanda Pushkar's murder case. "When the UPA was there, they were not allowed to question Tharoor. There was a lot of pressure and there were a few police officers who complied with the ruling party. But, ever since November, the police have moved into action. This is a high profile case with so many interests involved. The IPL matter is also tagged with this. So, I think the police have to move slowly and carefully. Most importantly, find out why Mr. Tharoor lied earlier and what is the truth," Swamy had said. "This was already known that she has been murdered. Now we know that the last person to see her was Mr. Tharoor.
And that she had told press people that she was going to expose IPL. The truth is practically known, the question is who is the killer and who did Shashi Tharoor assist in killing. And then I think Shashi Tharoor needs to be taken into custody," he added. Earlier, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi had said that things will be analyzed and further necessary action will be taken after Tharoor's statement is analyzed.

Sunanda took the IPL rap for Tharoor: Nalini Singh
Senior journalist Nalini Singh has said in her statement to the Delhi Police that Sunanda Pushkar had mentioned to her about taking Shashi Tharoor’s blame upon herself during the IPL controversy.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of Sunanda spoke to Ms. Singh on Friday.
On January 20, 2014, Ms. Singh had told the SDM that she had spoken to Sunanda on the phone a day before her death and she had expressed dismay at Mr. Tharoor’s alleged affair with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar. “I was examined as Sunanda had telephoned me on the day she died,” said Ms. Singh. She said Sunanda wanted to talk to her regarding the IPL and quoted her as saying that she had “taken the flak for him [Tharoor].”
The IPL controversy broke in early 2010.
