'Praveen Swami not a reliable reporter?'

The soft spoken Praveen Swami is noted for his detailed reportage. However, serious questions have been raised by his article in The Hindu concerning his reliability (See ' Runaway grandmother sparked savage skirmish on LOC' , Jan. 10, 2013).
He was reporting on the barbaric treatment (mutilation and one beheading) meted out to the two Indian soldiers at the Line of Control and their death on Jan. 6. 2013). He mentions, quite gratuitously, in the present writer's opinion, a story told to him by an unknown official/officer of Indian soldiers beheading a Pakistani soldier in 2008, in retaliation for the beheading of an Indian soldier !
This is the first time that anyone has heard about this story, which by his own admission, has not been INDEPENDENTLY CORROBORATED by The Hindu. He repeated this story again at a program on CNNIBN on Jan. 10, 2013). . . . (READ MORE).
