Earlier, Mukesh was also beaten up by fellow inmates during his judicial custody
The main accused of Vasant Vihar gangrape case -- Ram Singh -- was beaten up by his co-inmates at Tihar Central Jail on Monday.
With protests raging over the heinous crime in the city and other parts of the country for about a week, the Tihar inmates were also angry with him for his inhuman act, allegedly committed by Ram Singh and five others.
Ram Singh has been kept in jail number three, while two of his co-accused were in jail number seven. Another co-accused was lodged in jail number four and yet another accused who happens to be Ram Singh's brother -- Mukesh -- has been in police remand.
The sixth accused has claimed to be juvenile and has been lodged in children's remand home.
Earlier, Mukesh was also beaten up by fellow inmates during his judicial custody and was even forced to consume human excreta.
After raping the 23-year-old paramedic student in a moving bus on the night of December 16, the accused had brutally assaulted the victim and dumped her in Vasant Vihar area. Her male friend who tried to rescue her was also badly beaten up and both of them were stripped before being thrown out of the bus at the isolated location in south Delhi.
The incident has evoked massive protests across the country with protesters demanding speedy justice to the victim and capital punishment to the culprits.
